About United Medical, LLC
Founded in November 2005 by Kemal Erkan, United Medical began as a turnkey solution for healthcare providers focused on billing and healthcare information technology. Kemal’s keen discernment of the healthcare landscape and a vision of a patient centric community model led to a partnership with Cerner Corporation and a United Medical Network wide adaptation of electronic health records.
As a partner organization with Cerner Corporation, PowerWorks software is made available to the client and physician partners of United Medical. The Cerner electronic medical record operates in real time and is a completely integrated database within the United Medical Network. With a focus on quality patient care, the integration of patient health information allows the care team to support the providers in coordinating the best possible patient care in the most efficient manner to reduce costs across our network.
In 2012, United Medical emerged as one of the top private ambulatory health care networks in Delaware* and the Mid-Atlantic region. United Medical is a multi-specialty network serving a nationwide client base of over 27 specialties and 135 practices -and growing! With a local network currently uniting more than 225 providers and 325,000 patients, United Medical is well on its way to changing the health care landscape in Delaware and surrounding communities.

Our shared goals, shared initiatives and shared savings, positions UMACO to achieve the objectives of coordinated, team-based, and value-conscious care. It enables us to simultaneously address the needs of the elderly, adults and pediatric members. We balance a focus on high-cost and high-risk segments with broad-based interventions across settings and populations, using incentive structures to ensure that participating providers can continuously evolve their practices.
Our partnership with Cerner Corporation, PowerWorks Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) supports clinical integration and our model as a full service ACO. The application of a standardized practice workflow will improve and increase the efficiency of the practice, allowing the focus to be on increasing the quality of patient care.
UMACO is a proud participant of the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) through an agreement with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In addition, UMACO currently holds three performance-based contracts with private payers. This number will increase in the future as UMACO participates with additional insurance payers in population health contracts.

Our implementation approach is based on delivery of Cerner’s Ambulatory EHR solutions, with our full complement of 24/7 technical support services as well as training services, both coordinated from our corporate offices in Bear.
